Coming Soon: Office of Veterans’ Services
The proposed Office of Veterans’ Services at Ohio University is close to becoming a reality. With estimates of 550 student veterans enrolled at OHIO, awareness and support of these services is vital.
The Office of Veterans’ Services would be a “one stop shop” for student veterans providing programs and opportunities such as peer mentoring and scholarships such to cover expenses related to Education Abroad, professional internships, networking opportunities and educational expenses not covered by the Post-9/11 G.I. Bill.
The total annual cost to operate the facility will be $129,000. Alumni have already shown their support. Vietnam veteran Ken Peak, BS ’67, made a generous pledge to double any donation up to $65,000 for the initial establishment of the program. As of May 18, $50,000 in gifts had been made toward this match.
To make a donation online, visit www.ohio.edu/give, choose "Make a one-time gift" then select “Veterans’ Services Fund” from the drop-down designation menu. Or, you can mail your check payable to "The Ohio University Foundation" to P.O. Box 869, Athens OH 45701. (Please write “Veterans’ Services” in the memo section.)
