Internships and a Graduate Assistantship at the Ohio University Alumni Association
Learn more about each student opportunity and apply with the links below. Sixteen internships in all; each internship is for a 15-week semester. Interviews will be held March 11 - April 1 for the following year (Fall '13, Spr '14 and Smr '14 semesters). All internships are paid $750 per semester.
Writer/Editor Internship Provide written press releases, news articles and briefs, calendar of events and points of pride for print newsletter, magazine, publications, Web and electronic email. Provide copy editing for assigned communications for the Alumni Association.
Photography Internship Proficient skills in on-site photography at events. Assignments will include outdoor and indoor sessions of campus areas, buildings, greens, etc., mostly for timely uploads to Facebook and OUAA Web photo galleries. Proficient in commercial photography, product lighting and have access to a photography studio (or suitable space) and lighting equipment.
Merchandising Internship The Ohio University Alumni Association’s merchandising internship focuses on the daily operations of the online Bobcat Store as well as the planning and implementation of long-term marketing strategies. Selected candidate will learn the basics of online merchandising, research and develop new products for OUAA, manage daily correspondence with store vendors and learn customer service best practices.
Regional Programming Assistant Internship The Ohio University Alumni Association's regional programming intern primarily supports regional programming through writing and editing for marketing outlets such as online calendars, web sites, and some print publications. This support is for various off campus chapters (regional representations of alumni), Homecoming, and various off campus alumni events. Secondary responsibilities will be event planning and organization of chapter events and OUAA events. This position offers the student significant opportunities to build networking contacts, explore several career paths in special event planning, alumni relations and university advancement while developing immediate job skills.
Special Events Internship The Ohio University Alumni Association's special events intern primarily supports special event programming for Ohio University alumni. These include Homecoming, Alumni College, various on and off campus alumni reunions including Golden Weekend and Spring Alumni Weekend, and an annual leadership conference. This position offers the student significant opportunities to build networking contacts, explore several career paths in special event planning, alumni relations and university advancement while developing immediate job skills.
Alumni Societies Internship The Ohio University Alumni Association's alumni societies intern primarily supports society volunteer management and programming. This support will be for up to 30 alumni societies whose leaders are located all over the country. Society programming and activities take place year round and will include Homecoming activities, society meetings, student engagement and recruitment events, alumni engagement, community service and philanthropic events, and more.
Graduate Assistantship The Graduate Assistantship is primarily responsible for running the Legacy Program, producing newsletters for legacy and advocacy and tour programs, assisting in major alumni events, and doing research on best practices. Graduate Assistantship for full academic year 2013-14.
