Chippendale style grandfather clock originally owned by General Charles Grosvenor and dedicated to his granddaughter, Constance Leete.
c. 1810. Regency period. Pier glass – gilt gesso. Reverse glass painting, memorial motif on tablet above mirror. Ionic capitals above leafage on reeded columns. Beading around mirror.
19th century lamp. Gilt tracery designs over paint on opaque glass standard on the bronze and marble base.
The Shah Abbas motif are accented in the traditional red and blue coloration with some ivory accents. Named after the Mogali Dynasty in India which loomed some of the finest masterpieces in the world. This rug, new in 1982, bears the authentic Persian Keshan design and uses the Persian knot.
New in 1982, this rug bears the Persian Bidjar design with camel hair background color and geometric running medallion.

c. 1830. Arms scroll and end in long necked swans. Fabric is Scalamandre and is the same used in the Red Room at the White House.

c. 1820. Mahogany with beveled glass on three sides of upper cabinet. Lower portion contains three drawers behind a pair of blind doors. Interesting ormolu decoration on cornice board.
c. 1790. Wrought iron elaborate dog grate, used only in important homes. Though rare, there are three in house restorations in Charleston, South Carolina. As the name implies, they embodied the fire dogs, grate and in this case, the small fireback. This is the last form of unfixed grate used in living rooms.
c. 1840. Clear pillar molded decanter in eight ribs with a heavy ring between shoulder and rim. Weight is heavy, contributed by a good proportion of lead.

c. 1900. French porcelain. Cobalt blue ground with gilt edging, gilt floral decoration in the center, and berry decoration in gilt on inside of cup. Tradition says General Grosvenor used these dishes while serving in Congress.

Purchased in 1983, Fehrahan design with overall “Herati” design and central rust medallion with palmetted anchors on indigo blue ground. Rust primary border.

c. 1870. Walnut with caned seat. The chair was a gift from Hazel Putnam Roach, class of 1916. The chair belonged to Mr. and Mrs. George Putnam who lived in a two story white brick house at the corner of President Street and Richland Avenue in Athens Ohio. They were the grandparents of Hazel Putnam Roach.
c. 1850. Rosewood. Top rail of back forms Gothic arch with pierced openings below, upholstered seat in pink velvet. The chair once belonged to Constance Leete, the granddaughter of General Charles Grosvenor, and once stood in the first floor hall of the Grosvenor House.
