Since the first formal alumni award was presented over 75 years ago, the Ohio University Alumni Association has continually presented awards to accomplished alumni and friends each year. Our goal is to pay tribute to alumni and friends for outstanding achievement and/or service to Ohio University, the Ohio University Alumni Association, their communities, and/or their professions. Selected by the Alumni Board of Directors, there are five different award categories which can be awarded on an annual basis.
Nominations for awards can be submitted at anytime, though for consideration for the Annual Alumni Awards Gala, nominations should be received no later than December 1st each year. Nominations are easy. Read a description below of the different awards and click for the nomination category that you believe fits best. Complete the form, and you're done! If you prefer to submit a nomination by mail, please answer all the questions seen on the screen and mail to Alumni Awards, Konneker Alumni Center, 52 University Terrace, Athens, OH 45701 by the deadline. Be certain that all materials are complete. An online nomination will not allow you to submit unless all information is completed, so be certain that a mailed nomination has all the requisite materials. Please note that awardees are requested to attend the Alumni Awards Gala held during Homecoming weekend.
Review of Nominations & Notification
All nominations are reviewed by a committee of the Alumni Board of Directors at the annual meeting. A slate of names are recommended to the full Board for approval. Upon approval, award recipients are notified via a congratulatory letter from the Assistant Vice President for Alumni Relations and Executive Director of the Alumni Association. The nominating individual(s) or organization is sent a copy of the letter, along with the college affiliated with the award winner.
