OHIO alumni reconnect at Chicago reception
On July 22, 338 OHIO alumni reconnected at the Chicago Alumni
Reception in the Four Seasons Hotel.
Speakers included OHIO President
Roderick J. McDavis, Alumni Association Executive Director Graham Stewart
and Vice President for University Advancement Howard R. Lipman.
The
speakers recognized OHIO Foundation board members for their support
and contributions to Ohio University.
The reception was "a really good kick-off for the
chapter," said Dawn Werry, Assistant Director of Regional
Programming for the Alumni Association. The event helped to rejuvenate
alumni in the area. Afterward, the Chicago Chapter hosted a cornhole
tournament for Bobcats new to the city.

Katie Arnold is the new president of the Chicago Alumni Chapter. She graduated from OHIO with a bachelor's degree in communication in 2006. Arnold's strong leadership has helped the chapter reorganize. The chapter is planning several exciting upcoming events for Chicago Bobcats, including a game watch for the OHIO vs. OSU football game.
Arnold is a "very energizing young woman, very passionate about young alumni," said Dawn Werry, Assistant Director of Regional Programming for the Alumni Association.
In May, Arnold attended the Alumni Leaders Conference in Athens, an annual event that rejuvenates current leaders and trains new ones with a series of speakers and workshops.
On July 22, the chapter held a welcoming reception for alumni new to the area. Fifty alumni, including ten 2010 graduates, had the chance to get acquainted with their fellow Bobcats and play in a cornhole tournament.
Other activities Arnold and the Chicago Chapter are planning include a "speed networking" event, a wine tasting, and a community service project for the Lakeview Food Pantry. The chapter also hosts monthly happy hours and, of course, a Halloween party.
